STAFF QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

A staff development request from Emily Murphy was reviewed and approved. She will attend an in-depth science institute. Other concerns included the ongoing struggle to keep the copiers and risographs in working order. Mrs. Frazier stated that she would follow up with the copier company and the county office to attempt to improve the situation. The team also discussed a suggestion to use walkie-talkies instead of the megaphone in the car rider line. Another dismissal concern is the congestion caused by the line of after-school students on the K-2 hall. The after-schoolers are leaving earlier than in years past, which in turn has caused more students to be in the hall at one time than before. More thought will be given to the logistics of dismissal, and possible changes will be discussed further.

SPEAKER HACKNEY SCHOOL GIFT

Speaker Joe Hackney recently received an award that included $10,000 to be given to a school of his choice. Speaker Hackney generously designated Silk Hope as his school. He has expressed a desire for the money to be spent on a project or projects that might not otherwise be funded and that would permanently enhance the school. Suggestions from the SBMT included:

The team would very much like to have additional ideas from the faculty and staff for the most productive way to use this gift. Please see your SBMT representative to submit your ideas.
