PTA General Meeting Minutes
October 16, 2007
Shannon Mitchell, President of Silk Hope PTA, welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.
A big thank you to all parents who brought in food for parent/teacher conference day.
Financial Review and taxes have been completed. Thanks to Lucinda Everett and Wally Armstrong for getting this accomplished.
Current PTA membership total at present is 75.
Minutes from May, 2007 were read and approved.
The Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
The PTA Executive Board and the Advisory Board met and they approved a proposal for the 07/08 Budget Requests. The list of request was presented to the General PTA and was approved. (anyone wishing to see this list may contact Lucinda Everett)
PTA Thrift Shop:
- Supply Drive will continue through Wednesday October 17th
- Siler City Work Nights
- 10/29 - 2nd grade
- 11/20 - 7th grade
- 11/26 - 4th grade
- 11/27 – Kindergarten 3/19
Old Business:
- Sally Foster Fund Raiser brought in approximately $5,500.
- School Facility Needs: We are working on the following items to help improve our school, new sofa and chairs for the school lobby, screen and projector for Multipurpose room.
New Business:
- Silk Hope's 100th Year Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 4th. We are still in need of some volunteers.
- We will be donating some money to help with the start-up of the Virginia Cross PTA.
- Shannon Mitchell and Kelly Marshall have put together a proposal for a Chatham County Recreation grant for renovation of the dugouts. We will hear tomorrow tonight if it was approved.
- Sonic fund raiser will take place every 4th Thursday of the month. Make your plans to eat at Sonic that evening from 5-8 pm.
- Check out the website goodschoolz.org for some great articles written about Silk Hope School.
- We are looking into a possible grant from the BCBSNC Foundation.

- Advisory Board Meeting: 11/13/07 @ 6:30 pm, 12/11/07 @ 6:00 pm
- General PTA meeting with Holiday Concert: 12/11/07 @ 6:30 pm
