PTA Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

October 9, 2007

Shannon Mitchell welcomed and introduced everyone and called the meeting to order.

Financial review and taxes have been completed. Thanks to Lucinda Everett for getting this done. Thanks also to Wally Armstrong for his volunteer time in helping to get this done.

Minutes from September's meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s report was approved.

PTA memberships are up to 70. We are still taking membership applications.

Upcoming Thrift Shop nights:

• October 12 - 5th grade
• October 29 - 2nd grade
• Nov. 20th - 7th grade
• Nov. 26th - 4th grade
• Nov. 27th – Kindergarten

PTA Thrift Shop Supply Drive through October 17th.

Fashion Show scheduled for General PTA meeting October 16th. Rhonda Sheffield will be coordinating this and Mattie Jean Fox will emcee. We earn 75 hours for each fashion show that we do.

Old Business:

• Sally Foster we earned approximately $5500.
• Water Fountain – tabled.
• School Facility Needs – New sofa/ chairs for school entrance and screen for Multipurpose room need to be done this year. Sound system for Multipurpose room needs to be investigated.

New Business:

• Volunteers needed for 100 Year Celebration.
• Discussion of donating money to Virginia Cross PTA.
• Chatham County Recreation Grant for renovation of dugouts will be decided on at their October 17th meeting.
• October 15th is parent/teacher conferences. We are sending around a sign-up to bring food for the teachers that day.
• Sonic Fundraiser will take place once a month with 10% of the sales from 5-8pm going to the PTA.
• Check out the website goodschoolz.org/. Silk Hope school has been highlighted.
• Discussion of writing a grant for possible monies from BCBSNC Foundation.
• Budget request were gone over at length. Many were approved to be presented at General PTA meeting on October 16th. See Lucinda for detailed list.
